Keynote lectures
Václav Vinš
Properties of alternative refrigerants and heat transfer liquids – Modeling and experiments
Václav Vinš received his Ph.D. at the Czech Technical University in Prague, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in 2010. For more than 8 years, he collaborated with the CERN laboratory on the design of cooling circuits for particle detectors. Since 2008, he works at the Institute of Thermomechanics of the Czech Academy of Sciences at the Thermodynamics department. In 2011, he finalized a 6 months stay at Ruhr-Universität Bochum in frame of a IAPWS Young Scientist Project focused on the modeling of gas hydrates relevant mainly for the design of new CCS/U (carbon capture and storage / utilization) technologies. In 2019, he received the IAPWS Helmholtz Award for the achievements in the research of thermophysical properties of water and aqueous systems, in particular surface tension of metastable supercooled water and phase equilibria involving gas hydrates. His main research topics include theoretical and experimental investigation of thermophysical properties of technically important fluids, refrigeration, heat transfer, and CCS/U. Now, Václav Vinš acts as a head of the Laboratory of thermophysical properties and Vice Director for R&D at IT CAS. Among other, Václav Vinš is member of IAPWS and DVGW and the IT CAS representative in EERA JP CCS and CO2CZ.
Jiří Primas
Possible Limitations of the Particle Image Velocimetry Method in the Presence of Strong Electric Fields
Ing. Bc. Jiří Primas, Ph.D. born 1982, is a senior researcher at the Technical University of Liberec. His specialization is electromagnetism, electrohydrodynamics and electrochemistry. He is currently engaged in the issues of electrohydrodynamic actuators and non-invasive measurement of the movement of liquid media.
